Welcome to the Vancouver Futsal Association
VFA is a bridge – the access point for youth and adults who want to play futsal in a competitive environment in BC lower mainland. Futsal is like mini-soccer, but the benefits of playing it are no less than small.
“During my childhood in Portugal, all we played was futsal. If it wasn’t for futsal, I wouldn’t be the player I am today” – Cristiano Ronaldo (professional footballer)
VFA is a seed – in 2010, it started by offering men’s leagues and tournaments. Now, it has added youth jamborees, leagues. We are growing, and so are the players.
“Futsal requires you to think and play fast. It makes everything easier when you later switch to football” – Pelé (professional footballer)
The VFA is two passionate locals – Alexander Elliott and Michael D’Agostino, founders of the association, met when they were 13 while playing for Canada’s youth national team. As professional football players, the two experienced the unique benefits futsal has to offer for skill development. And so, they decided to offer comprehensive futsal programming for the youth who are beginning their journey exploring the fun of the sport. It is a fact that futsal is a crucial enabler for the youth to become better football players.
“The goal of Vancouver futsal is to provide an outlet where youth players can express their creativity through futsal” – Alexander Elliott (VFA co-founder)
“It is the goal of the VFA to offer our programs in cooperation and addition to all soccer districts, leagues, and programs without creating conflict with players’ regular game or training schedules schedules.” – Michael D’Agostino (VFA co-ounder)
